Frameworks we build forGDPREU AI ActNIS2DORAEU Data Act
Companies across Europe are building under more regulation than anywhere else in the world. GDPR, the EU AI Act, NIS2, DORA and the Data Act all shape how software is designed. ICANIO helps teams in Europe build AI, digital twins and cloud platforms that respect those rules from day one.
We want to be clear about our model. ICANIO has no office in the EU. Our engineering teams work from India, and our India sales team handles enquiries. India is three and a half hours ahead of Central European Summer Time and four and a half ahead in winter. That gives us most of your morning, every working day.
This page covers how we work with clients in the EU and EEA. We use Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and the Nordics as examples, because they reflect the kinds of projects we are asked about most. The same model applies elsewhere in the single market.
Most clients do not ask us for headcount. They ask for outcomes. A Mittelstand manufacturer wants a digital twin of a production line. A Dutch logistics company wants AI that plans loads. An Irish SaaS firm wants to pass an enterprise security review. A Nordic energy company wants cloud platforms that meet NIS2.
We scope around the outcome and staff a pod to match. Our engineers are AI-enabled in daily work, using code assistants, automated tests and model evaluation. That keeps teams small and first releases fast.
Our quality and information security processes are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. We document in English, work in your tools and quote in EUR on request. We serve clients across Europe, the UK, the USA and APAC.
How our model works for the EU
“Engineering pods in India, a shared European morning for stand-ups and reviews, GDPR standard contractual clauses for any personal data we touch, and production data kept in EU cloud regions.”

Foundations
Our India afternoon covers your morning in Berlin, Amsterdam, Dublin or Stockholm. Decisions happen live, not overnight by email.
Production systems run in EU cloud regions, such as Frankfurt, Dublin or Stockholm. Engineers use masked or synthetic data wherever possible.
If our teams must access personal data, we sign the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and assess the transfer with you.
AI Act risk classes, NIS2 duties, DORA contracts and accessibility rules are mapped in discovery and turned into backlog items.
Core capabilities
These capabilities reflect what clients in Europe ask us for most. Each links to real ICANIO work, without claiming where that client is based.
Twins of machines, lines and plants that combine PLC and SCADA data with physics models and predictive AI. Built for manufacturers in Germany and across Central Europe.
See: digital twin PoC →Assistants, document AI and agent frameworks with risk classification, logging, human oversight and technical documentation designed in.
See: agentic AI framework →Pipelines with purpose limitation, retention rules, consent records and access logs. Analytics teams get data they can use lawfully.
See: data lake integration →CMS upgrades and customer portals built to WCAG, ready for the European Accessibility Act. We have moved TYPO3 and Liferay estates without downtime.
See: TYPO3 modernisation →Infrastructure as code, observability and incident runbooks that support NIS2 and DORA evidence. Financial and essential entities get clearer ICT risk records.
See: observability platform →Real-time sync between ERP, CRM and shop-floor systems, with automated workflows. Useful for European manufacturers running SAP or regional ERPs.
See: ERP automation →German and Central European manufacturers use twins to predict failures and trial changes before touching a line. We connect OPC UA, PLC and SCADA data to physics-informed models.
Digital Twin Solutions →We classify each use case against the AI Act risk tiers, then build the logging, human oversight and documentation it needs. Data pipelines follow GDPR purpose limits.
Data & Artificial Intelligence →Web and mobile products built to WCAG and the European Accessibility Act, with multilingual content and consent flows that meet the ePrivacy rules.
Mobile & Web Application Development →We deploy on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud regions inside the EU, with infrastructure as code, backups and tested recovery that support NIS2 and DORA evidence.
DevOps & Cloud Engineering →Our India teams start hours before the European day. Overnight alerts are triaged and summarised before your first meeting in Amsterdam or Oslo.
Technical Support Engineering →Agents that reconcile invoices, triage tickets or prepare compliance packs, with human approval and full audit logs. Designed for the transparency the AI Act expects.
AgenticOps →Architecture
Each engagement follows one delivery shape. Your stakeholders set priorities, a delivery lead owns the plan, an India pod builds, and governance keeps GDPR and security visible.

Challenges we solve
The same issues come up whether a client is in Munich, Rotterdam, Cork or Copenhagen. Most are about capacity and regulation at once.
Many EU labour markets have long-running shortages of skilled developers. Roles stay open while roadmaps slip.
The AI Act, NIS2, DORA, the Data Act and the Accessibility Act landed within a few years. Teams struggle to keep track.
DPOs worry about personal data leaving the EEA. Without clear SCCs and a transfer assessment, vendor approval stalls.
Plant data sits in PLCs, historians and spreadsheets. The Data Act gives users new rights to it, but few have the pipelines.
Old CMS, ERP and Java estates miss security and accessibility updates. Replacing them feels risky and expensive.
A proof of concept works, but nobody can explain its risk class, logs or oversight. It never reaches production.
Clients buy engineering in different ways. We offer four models, and many clients combine them over time.
Buyers in the EU usually weigh four routes. The table compares them on what decides success.
| Factor | In-house hire | Local agency | ICANIO |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to start | Months | Weeks | Weeks |
| Cost of senior talent | High | High | Moderate |
| Morning overlap | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes |
| ISO 27001 processes | Varies | Varies | ✓ Yes |
| Scale up or down fast | No | Partial | ✓ Yes |
Returns grow as the pod learns your domain, codebase and regulatory context.
Delivery
Week 1–2
We meet your stakeholders, review systems and regulation in scope, and agree overlap hours and success measures.
Week 2–3
We sign the MSA, SOW and data processing agreement, add SCCs where needed and set up least-privilege access.
Week 3–6
The pod ships a first working slice to an EU staging environment and demos it live in your morning.
Week 6–10
Sprints settle, with weekly metrics, test coverage and compliance evidence your team can see.
Week 10–13
A 90-day review with your leadership decides whether to scale the pod, add services or refocus.
Sector-specific engineering for organisations in Europe.
A partner your DPO rejects wastes a quarter. We recommend buyers in the EU check five things first.
In our experience, partnerships in Europe succeed when the DPO is involved in week one, not week ten.
GDPR applies across the EU and EEA. India does not have an EU adequacy decision, so any access by our teams to personal data is a transfer outside the EEA. We cover it with the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and a transfer impact assessment, completed with your DPO.
Our first choice is to avoid the transfer. Production data stays in EU cloud regions, and engineers work with masked or synthetic data. Access is least-privilege, logged and reviewed.
Other rules shape the design too. NIS2 raises security duties for essential and important entities. DORA sets ICT risk and third-party rules for financial entities. We do not claim certification against these laws. We work under ISO 27001 certified processes and supply the evidence your compliance team needs.
Start with the cost of the alternative. Compare the fully loaded cost and time to hire senior engineers in your market with a pod that starts in weeks. Include social charges, agency fees and the cost of an empty seat.
Then measure time to value. We baseline lead time, release frequency and defect rates in discovery, and report them every sprint. Quotes are in EUR on request, and we avoid long lock-in terms.
Technology stack
We work in the stacks our clients already run, and add AI tooling where it earns its place.
